"I was thinking about the question, 'how does Christ look to us?'" Otto Schaller muses. "Jesus himself posed the question to his disciples more than two thousand years ago. And so I painted this image. The right hand is the hand that we extend to greet one another. It is the hand we use to give, to receive or to offer help to one in need." The Brazilian artist depicts the hand with fingers extending upward, with the nail print of Christ's crucifixion clearly visible on the palm.
